Mercy - "Not" getting what we deserve
What is an example of Mercy in the Bible?
The greatest example of Mercy in the Bible is shown through the death of Jesus Christ. Through His death, we are saved from the penalty of our sin (which is the second death). We deserve to die; we deserve that punishment. Yet, through God's mercy, he has taken that penalty away from us. Through the death of his son, Jesus Christ paid the penalty of sin once for all.
What about in our personal life? How has someone shown you mercy? How have "you" shown mercy?
THOUGHT OF THE DAY: As humans we are quick to want justice (or others), but we want mercy on ourselves. Show mercy, and you will show God's love toward someone else!

Grace - "Getting" something we do not deserve
What are some examples of Grace in the bible?
Two of the greatest examples of Grace in the bible is God's Forgiveness and our Salvation. Both of these are FREE, and are given to us when we were yet sinners!! We were completely undeserving of either of these, yet God gave them to us freely.

Grace is God's Empowerment -
How does God's Grace (empowerment) work?
We can do nothing, except the one that is "within us." His grace or empowerment is what allows us to go beyond human ability, and beyond human reasoning. Grace is the actual power of God working in our lives, over throwing strongholds, giving us the peace that surpasses understanding, and literally giving us the ability to have the "mind of Christ." (Phil 2:5) This is one of the keys to Grace that Satan does not want you to fully understand and grasp. This is the piece of knowledge Satan wants to remain hidden because it is the piece that will break his strongholds on humans! We can read all the scriptures and gain knowledge of God and his desires for us. But what creates the "ability" (power) for us to overcome our human nature to actually DO THE WILL of God? God's power! God's grace!
Grace is increased THROUGH FAITH. This means we need to read the words of God, and then we need to act on faith. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as, "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." We MUST BELIEVE it to be true. We know that God's words say in 2 Cor 12:9-11, " “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 10 That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
God's power in / over our lives is not activated until we are moved "by faith" to allow HIM to move in us! Does this make sense? As long we are governing ourselves, we are in charge, and we are living by site! Everything about what I am saying is truth, and it is goes against everything we experience in our physical lives. It's scary and fearful to let go, but that is exactly what He is asking us to do!
May the GRACE of God be with you as you step out on faith and be led (and empowered) by God.
